Working with kids has always been my interest and profession - babysitting as a teenager, working at preschools before college, camp counseling and nannying during college, and finally teaching. Young people are our future, I love working and learning with our students at Walt Clark Middle School.

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. My Christmas present in 2nd grade was a filing cabinet, so I am pretty sure that my parents knew too.

I have been teaching since the fall of 2007, so 2022-2023 marks my 15th year teaching! 2020-2021 marked my 13th year - how fitting!! I am in love with my job and can’t imagine my life without teaching.

I am the proud sponsor of Student Council, Coordinator for the WEB program and Spelling Bee Sponsor at WCMS!

I love the TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. My favorite movie genres are romance/drama, comedy, and musicals. My family attends church at St. John’s, and I sing in the choir there. I have a photography business and have enjoyed capturing memories for local families since moving here in 2010. I love country music, played flute in high school and college, and follow the Kansas Jayhawks more than any other team. I will always sing along with the radio and enjoy making my students and my own children laugh.

I am a very open book and welcome communication and feedback and questions. I am super organized and love supporting my students and their families in whatever way I can!

While teaching was not my original plan, it has become my passion. I began as a teaching assistant at the elementary level and taught middle school ELA online during the pandemic. It was then that I discovered how much I love working with middle schoolers because they are young enough to influence and encourage growth but old enough to teach me every day through conversation and critical thinking skills. History is a hobby and I love teaching the material but I pride myself on encouraging curiosity and providing students with the tools to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.
